Allendale Primary is a friendly, caring school where we pride ourselves on our rich and varied curriculum which includes many opportunities to take part in events and days themed around music, art, drama, sport and science among other subjects. At the heart of our school is nurture and wellbeing but we also take pride in our high expectations and standards; we regularly achieve higher than national average scores in statutory assessments by maintaining a balanced curriculum throughout the year. We have maintained our high standards despite the challenges brought after the covid pandemic. We firmly believe that in order for the children to enjoy learning and achieve their best, parents and school should work in partnership; parents are actively encouraged to support different activities, volunteer in school and help children with their homework tasks.
We work hard to promote healthy lifestyles and sustainability. As evidence of this, we won the Northumberland County Modeshift Stars Primary School of the Year Award for 2018 ,2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 and won the North East regional school of the year in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023. We hold the Enhanced Healthy Schools Award, the Gold School Games Award, Gold Artsmark Award and Platinum Modeshift Award and have 3 Eco Green Flags.
Even though we are a small school we have a huge range of facilities including our Sports Hall, large athletics field, wildlife garden, where work on the outdoor classroom has started, adventurous garden, ICT Suite, 3 playgrounds and a dedicated Nursery / Reception Class Unit. We have a strong arts curriculum, including music, art, drama and dance.
We strive for very active playtimes at school and are constantly developing our equipment and grounds around school to offer exciting, active, social and creative playtimes.
As we are a small school we are able to cater for the individual needs of children. We offer small group and individual support as and when needed. Every member of staff knows each child which makes for a school community with a family feel.
